This project was an exercise to provide a poetic expression on a 45 degree hillside using a vocabulary of landscape design elements. My expression was the concept of water as a creator, provider and destroyer using both natural and man-made design elements. Concepts of streams, rivers and floods were composed and overlayed with stairs, sand gardens and ruins embedded in the hillside. The models were created from polystyrene insulation blocks and bass wood... cut with a hot wire, glued, gessoed and painted. The finished product is quite attractive. It has that glossy claymation effect, like a background of "Davey & Goliath".
